Yiannis Karapiperidis was born in Kavala, Greece in 1972.  In 1992 he graduated from Filton College, Bristol, UK with a degree in Film, Photography and Communication Studies and received a BA (Honor’s) Film and Drama from The University of Reading, UK in 1995.  Since 1997 Yiannis has been working as an assistant director and director on commercials, current affairs, documentary and fiction series for Greek television as well as writing, producing and directing his own work.  His film The Flat Mate won Best Director Award in Athens Short Film Festival “Short premieres” in 2003 and Zoe’s Mark, his most recent film, was granted a State Quality Award by the ministry of culture in 2008 and participated in the Short Film Corner of the Cannes Film Festival in 2009.
